Rockstar Games è un’azienda statunitense specializzata nello sviluppo e nella distribuzione di videogiochi. Tra i suoi titoli più noti troviamo le serie di Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne e Red Dead Redemption.

Storia di Rockstar Games

Fondata nel 1998 da un gruppo di sviluppatori inglesi, tra cui Sam Houser, Dan Houser, Terry Donovan, Jamie King e Gary Foreman, Rockstar Games ha visto diverse evoluzioni nel corso degli anni.

Evoluzioni e Premi

Nel 2007, Terry Donovan ha lasciato la compagnia e Gary Dale è subentrato come CEO. Il quartier generale di Rockstar Games, conosciuto come Rockstar NYC, è situato sulla Broadway nel quartiere NoHo di Manhattan, New York. Qui si occupano di marketing, pubbliche relazioni e sviluppo del prodotto. Fino a febbraio 2014, i titoli di Rockstar Games hanno superato le 250 milioni di copie vendute, con la serie di Grand Theft Auto che ha raggiunto almeno 220 milioni di copie entro settembre dello stesso anno. Inoltre, nel 2014, hanno ricevuto il prestigioso BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award.

Oltre alla sede centrale, Rockstar ha diversi studi attivi in tutto il mondo, in contesti come Stati Uniti, India, Inghilterra, Scozia e Canada. Dal 2012, la collaborazione tra gli studi è rappresentata dal marchio Rockstar Studios.
